SPRING BLOOD FOR FLAMING CLIFFS 3 V1.0

Thanks to EvilBivol-1 and all those behind LOMAC and DCS World.

All credit goes to those behind the original FC2 release. Any bugs, problems or mistakes with this Flaming Cliffs 3 adaption are entirely my fault.

TO INSTALL

Copy all the files ( SB15XX.miz, Spring-Blood.cmp, and Spring-Blood-Splash ) into your "DCS World/Mods/aircraft/Flaming Cliffs/Missions/EN/Campaigns" folder.

The campaign will now be available in the FC3 tab on the Campaigns menu.

CAMPAIGN NOTES

All missions require you to land safely to complete.

This conversion has been primarily a learning exercise for me to get to grips with DCS World mission editing as such expect some rough edges or clumsy design issues.

I have attempted not to stray too far from the source material however some changes in logic and scripting seem to have been unavoidable between different platforms.

Main issues / changes are as follows;

Some changes in victory conditions to allow victory for driving enemies from the combat area. No mission trigger requires a kill so you shouldn't be hung up if one bandit manages to limp home.

Some changes in timing and spacing to help with the flow of missions, in particular I have pushed Russian AWACs further north in some missions to prevent conflicts drawing your wingmen away from key objectives.

I have replaced R73ER and ET with standard R73s in most cases to even the battle up. I'm not the world's best BVR pilot and I felt being outnumbered and outgunned was too much for me. Pilots looking for more of a challenge can easily give the enemy better weapons in the editor.

Mission 3 is the most altered. The basic mission is the the same but I have changed the players perspective, instead of being the guys who got jumped you now play the guys coming to the rescue. I felt this was more fun. A side effect f this was to invalidate the original briefing map so it has been removed.

Mission 5 refers to A-10As but I got better results with A-10Cs.

Ground attack missions in general are rough. I need to learn more about how the AI handles bombing and CAS so you will see some strange behaviour, however this is screen dressing. No mission requires the AI to destory any target, only to fly around in the combat area.

AWACS was called "Olympic" in the original campaign but is now "Darkstar" in keeping with DCS World callsigns.

FUTURE PLANS

This project was far more work than I ever imagined and I have earned a new respect for other designers and playtesters.

At this point all missions can be completed but depending on feedback I may revisit this campaign, hopefully with better understanding of the tools, in the meantime however I intend to enjoy other peoples work.

Thanks

John
